Safety is more than a single day, week, or month–although we appreciate any reason to stop and focus on the importance of safety in our industry. During National Safety Month, we’re examining all of the ways that construction and safety collide: at work, at home, and in our daily lives.
In Ohio, our construction companies build businesses around safety: hiring experts on safety to make sure each and every position and task has the supports required to perform a job with the highest safety standards. Every project is assessed for safety, and Ohio’s construction crews know exactly when and where to check for adherence to safety guidelines.
At the end of the day, we want every worker to feel safe at work and get back home safely to their families at night. The more successful we are at that, the stronger our industry becomes. And in turn, we’re creating safe communities for our families to live, work and play.
During National Safety Month, we’re sharing our commitment to safety. Construction is one of many industries that can help keep people safe, and the National Safety Council is sharing resources to inspire change.
Creating Safe Working Environments for Ohio Construction Crews
Without safe working environments, the construction industry could not achieve what it does. Employers and contractors are required to follow specific safety protocols, and those are reinforced in many ways throughout any construction project. After all, it’s in our best interest to run safe work sites. We want to attract the very best employees. To do that, we need to create a working relationship they can trust. Here are just a few ways that Ohio’s construction industry is focused on safety:
- Conducting on-site safety awareness activities.
- Thanking teams for supporting safety.
- Recognizing individual safety efforts.
- Creating environments on work sites and within organizations that support conversation around safety.
- Talking about safety to increase awareness and garner commitment.
Creating Safe Communities for Ohio Families
At the end of the day, we have a job to do. Each and every shift is focused on safely constructing the world around us. We build schools, hospitals, and offices that are up to code and protect the people inside of them. We build fire and police stations to house our first responders. We build roads to safely get workers and families to each stop in their busy lives. We build bridges that support them and tunnels that guide them. We ship materials as efficiently as possible and as safely as possible so our crews can create concrete and asphalt. We build parks to play and pools to swim in. We build stadiums to watch our favorite teams and arena to watch our favorite performers.
Everything in our communities is built by construction. A world without construction doesn’t function the way our modern society demands, and it’s up to us to create the safest environment possible.
Join us in celebrating all of our safety heroes this month and every month.
