Name: Leah Reitano

Company: Shook Construction Co., a construction company that serves clients in 13 states from its offices in Cleveland, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio; Dayton, Ohio; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina.

Title/Position: Project Administrator

Years Working in Construction: 7 years

How Leah Started in Construction: Before joining the construction industry, Leah worked as an assistant director of a child care center. She started to explore careers with more advancement opportunities, and construction was the industry that offered her the most room for career growth. Leah feels fortunate to have found Shook, where she can take on various responsibilities and “wear different hats” in her current role as Project Administrator.

What Leah Loves Most About Her Job: “The best part of my job is seeing the projects complete and how it provides for our communities.”

What Does It Mean to Leah to Be a Women in Construction? “Working in construction makes me feel proud because women do have a place in the industry, and we can bring on new and great ideas.”

What Career Advice Does Leah Offer to Women Considering a Career in Construction? 

Do not trust the negative stigma that people have portrayed in the past! There is a wide variety of opportunities that a construction company can provide.
