As you drive up and down Ohio’s roadways and explore our state’s communities, you can see the impact the Ohio construction industry makes in every aspect of our lives. Our efforts are made evident in the very buildings we use every day. The construction companies throughout our state are responsible for making a difference in the places where we Ohioans live, work, play and learn. Today, we would like to highlight four structures in our state that show the great work of four Ohio construction companies.
Where We Live: Bridge Park Commercial Space
As apartment living continues to grow in demand, projects like Bridge Park are becoming more and more important. Located in Dublin, Ohio on 13.55 acres, this commercial space was brought to life by Continental Building Co. Bridge Park brings a striking structure with more than 600,000 square feet of residential space, more than 95,000 square feet of commercial space and nearly 600,000 square feet of parking to the local Dublin community.
Where We Work: DSW Corporate Headquarters
The 140,000 square foot DSW corporate office building in Columbus, Ohio is an inspiring place to work, thanks to the team from Corna Kokosing. More than just an office building with conference rooms and closed offices, Corna Kokosing created a multipurpose space, complete with a full-service cafe, fitness facility, meeting spaces, mock retail store and open-landscape office spaces. The stunning all-glass entryway exterior showcases the handiwork of the skilled tradespersons who worked on this project.
Where We Play: Horseshoe Casino Cleveland
Precision Environmental transformed Cleveland’s historic Higbee Building into Ohio’s first casino. From start to finish, the crews worked mindfully to maintain the historic integrity of the original facility. Today, Horseshoe Casino Cleveland boasts a four-floor 350,000 square foot gambling hall, 73,000 square feet of kitchens and buffet, 1,000 square feet of back-of-house operations and 37,000 square feet of office space. Though it’s surely an impressive sight, sometimes the most important work cannot be seen. Before they could create the flashy casino, Precision Environmental was tasked with asbestos abatement and mechanical systems demolition. Thanks to their great work, Precision Environmental was named a finalist for Associated General Contractors Build Ohio Award.
Where We Learn: University of Dayton Center for Leadership Relocation
Education is an important piece of Ohioan’s futures. That’s why projects like the University of Dayton Center for Leadership Relocation project by Shook Construction are so important. This relocation project transformed 13,500 square feet of learning. The Shook Construction crews renovated 3 large classrooms, 4 conference rooms, a collaboration room, reception space, kitchen and lactation room for students.
These structures are visual reminders of the great work that our industry does every day. It’s clear that construction touches every corner of our lives. What buildings do you use daily that you can’t imagine your life without? Snap a photo and share with us on Instagram @ibuildamerica_ohio.
