In honor of the Thanksgiving holiday, we would like to take a moment to thank the many people who live out the I Build America mission.
Thank you to the school counselors who educate about the construction industry.
School counselors statewide support the I Build America mission at an incredibly important time in a young person’s life: when they are choosing their career. Counselors who take the time to learn about our industry and share the potential paths possible open a road of opportunities for individual students and, in the long run, our industry as a whole. When you are open to providing guidance on more than just traditional four-year university programs, you open more doors for students with the innate skills that will make them successful in the construction industry. As a school counselor, you are a key component in pointing future employees in our direction, which impacts our communities in more ways than we can count.
Thank you to the businesses who magnify our message.
Construction business owners play a critical role in furthering our mission. Whether you are actively hiring or not — but really, who isn’t hiring right now — you are making a difference for us. When your recruiting materials and business websites feature our logo, you are helping to inform your recruits about who we are and what we do. Your participation increases the awareness of our cause. Together, we will fill the labor gap and fuel the future success of our industry.
Thank you to the behind-the-scenes team who help communicate our mission.
There’s a lot of work that goes into generating pride and respect for the construction industry. Behind the I Build America scenes, we have a group of contractors, both from AGC and OCA, that work together to provide great insights that recruit people to our industry. You spend your valuable time and efforts to improve the content of the website, improve our message, provide the latest information, and create the most engaging content that attracts the people we want — and need — to attract. This often first engagement lays the foundation for the work of our organization.
Thank you to those who bring our mission to in-person events.
Even more impactful than our online presence are those who volunteer their time to connect with interested individuals face to face. From job fairs to career days, hiring events and more, going face to face with prospective employees inspires unlike anything else. When you represent your company or school or organization, bring your equipment or make a connection with attendees, you are supporting our mission. Who doesn’t get excited about seeing big machines and learning about new opportunities? Your presence at these events generates excitement unlike anything else.
We couldn’t do what we do without our I Build America community. So thank you, again, for all of your work that is helping to recruit the next generation of the construction industry.
