It’s Women in Construction Week! Each year, I Build America Ohio takes the opportunity during Women in Construction Week to share the stories of the women across the state who make up our great industry. The stories of these women show the diverse backgrounds, interests, skills, and talents that are part of the work we do–and we encourage more women of all ages and interests to consider careers in construction.
You can follow along as the nation celebrates its female construction workforce. Check out the hashtag #WICWeek2022 and #IBuildAmericaOhio!

How many years have you been working in construction?
I have worked in the construction industry for almost 8 years.
How did you get started in the construction industry?
Previously I worked in the trucking industry, so it was an easy transition for me.
What do you love most about your job?
I love being the go-to person for my team and offering them the support to get the job done.
In your experience, what do women bring to the construction industry?
Women are still trying to get a strong foothold in the construction industry, but are gaining ground and showing that women can do it just as well.
If you were to give young women (high school students) advice about beginning a career in construction, what would you say?
My advice to young women trying to get into the construction industry is to never give up, and do not be deterred by the biases you will face. You can be just as good, if not better!
