Name: Diana C.
Company: John G. Johnson
Title/Position: Compliance Manager
Years working in construction: 20 years
What was your path to a career in construction? Unforeseen conditions: it was not a planned position; it was something I fell into and loved.
What do you like most about working in construction? The diversity of the projects and watching the progression of our projects.
This year’s theme is “Keys to the Future.” What is the key to the future of construction in Ohio? The key to construction is getting our younger generation interested in the trades, showing them what brotherhood of Teamsters are! It’s better than being in a gang, it is having your own cool gang backing you up and helping you succeed! It is watching what your team can do.
If you were to give young women (high schoolers) advice about beginning a career in construction, what would you say? I would tell them to learn as much as you can, it is rewarding for people who are interested in this career, the trades are becoming diverse, and that one-day woman may be the majority not the minority. Believe in you and you can do anything you believe you can do!
