More than 6 million people are employed throughout the industries widespread careers. And with the need for new schools, hospitals, housing, and other commercial buildings increasing, the industry is going to need more and more quality workers to get all of the work done. In fact, the State of Ohio predicts that by 2024, we will need to fill 23,820 positions in the construction industry. From skilled trade workers to designers and management positions, to support staff, permanent, well-paying construction careers exist in all areas of the industry.

Apprenticeship programs are an amazing opportunity to learn while you earn. Many skilled trades offer apprenticeship programs so you can learn the skills, functions, and language that you’ll need to succeed in your work. The best part is that you earn money while you’re learning, and many of Ohio’s apprenticeship programs have strong connections with employers to help with job placement once you’ve successfully finished the program.

You don’t need to know everything about a career in construction to get started. It’s never been easier to receive quality construction education. Ohio universities, community colleges and career technical centers offer a variety of programs and all types of curriculum. You can receive degrees, diplomas or certifications in all aspects of the construction industry. From carpentry and electrical to heavy equipment operating and construction management, the right program is available for you in regions all across Ohio.
